Vital Records
Vital Records
Birth and death certificates, also known as vital records, are an important tool in determining and reporting the health status of our community. They also play an important role for each person. People need certified copies of birth and death certificates to establish, among other things, their identity, social security benefits, and to apply for a driver’s license, school entry/registration, or passport.
A certified copy of a vital record must contain the stamp or seal of either the local or state registrar and must be printed on approved certificate paper. These steps are taken to prevent fraud.
